No, Doja Cat Didn’t Actually Eat Lipstick at the VMAs

Doja Cat commits to the bit. She loves to make it weird, and she doesn't blink. But even with all of the artfully unusual things the singer and rapper has done in the past, it was still a shocking moment when, on the MTV Video Music Awards carpet on Sunday night, she bit off the top of her lipstick—and ate it.

Even though anyone who regularly wears lipstick will inadvertently ingest lots of it over time, intentionally eating a lipstick bullet is an entirely different story—and a fictional one in this case.

The creative marketing minds at MAC teamed up with “the chocolate guy” himself, Amaury Guichon, to whip up an incredible, edible stand-in for one of the brand's most iconic lipstick shades, Lady Danger. In fact, he made at least two dozen and shared the process in a video posted to MAC's Instagram account.

In the clip, Guichon is seen mixing up caramel and pouring it into chocolate shells in a shade of red that perfectly matches Lady Danger. He even carves the MAC logo into the side of the bullet, making it nearly indistinguishable from the real thing.

Doja, who's the latest MAC global brand ambassador, was seen chomping into the gooey lookalike lipsticks several times, and if you're anything like me, you went from thinking, “Ohmigod, ew,” to, “OK, where can I get chocolate Lady Danger lipstick for myself and everyone on my holiday shopping list?"

Thankfully, in case you missed the moment, MAC shared a replay with the caption, “The perfect award show snack: MAC.” The brand also included the complete makeup breakdown in the caption, because it not only wants to satisfy our collective sweet tooth, but also our curiosity about how to create that glam look for ourselves.

Just remember, folks: Don't try this at home. Not just because it's probably hard on your tummy, but because who wants to waste a perfectly good lipstick?!
